dysnomia reminiscent of the infamous quote there are four lights, the release kicks off with an homage to the will of resistance. from captain picard to orwell may the (referential) chain of command is not as evident as h4ls sci-fi passion, the title tracks power structure couldnt be wielded more efficiently: while stomping kick drums and subtle hi-hats build up a foreplay full of suspense, the witty melody with its warped and distorted sounds grants four lights the perfect authority. following a similar approach, fesch with its bouncy and mantra-like groove, in which synths playing a ping-pong game, completes the swinging a-side. deepa & biri, the israeli dj and producer duo from tel aviv, start the flip side with their interpretation of four lights. by using breaks and greater attention for details, the remix not only redirects the originals energy into more hypnotic realms, deepa & biri extract the melodys keys in order to create a moody and dense version. resonating from two decades of warehouse reverberation experience, disc 2 dysnomia finishes the release with an idm-drenched workout, full of uk bass knowledge, unpolished electro grooves, and swirling synth poetry. absolute freedom means absolute lawlessness.

the recordings for the wires cracked were completed in a frenzied two week period in october of 2012. i had mentioned in discussing a previous albums construction that i prefer to forget how i build any particular electro-acoustic amalgam. this is so that i dont get to precious with them, so that i could refine them further, so that the sounds themselves speak beyond their aggregate parts. with the album being relatively fresh in my mind, i can still recall various components to the wires cracked -- the desolate howl of a metal screen activated by a desert wind, the hissing air compression from the cooling apparatus for a laser at the slac national accelerator laboratory operated by stanford university, and the tremolo rhythms from a thin wire that still get me thinking fondly of günter schickert -- but much of the caustic drone, thrumming reverberation, and tactile grit thoroughly escapes me. that is probably for the best, since these various parts speak to an existential rupturing, the collapse of the self, the aftershocks of dark energy, and a belief in the hope for renewal. 2009 was a great year for these days records, and 2010 promises to be even better. the platform stood out for its innovative yet functional club sound and unique artwork concepts. the new year begins with a new split series under the name universal consciousness, based on the idea of connection between all things, and that all things have been coordinated, and they combine to make up the same universe. the first part is dedicated to two very different takes on spiritual, cosmic space techno. on the a-side argys >sometimes im blind< generates a long and uplifting emotional climax, which features a solo that will forever stay in your heart. the track was recorded at the end of 2008, and despite numerous offers to release the record elsewhere, nothing was finalised and the recording never saw the light of day. soon after the birth of his own label, it naturally fit the platform and seemed a perfect way to start the new year. on the flip side, sheffield born alexander ross, brings forth a cavernous techno piece awash with reverberation and spacial echos that brings a driving yet non the less emotionally captivating moment perfectly in balance with the depth of the a-side.
